First Impressions of the iPhone 3G

It has been less than a day, but I thought I might as well post my first impressions of the new iPhone 3G. Considering I owned an iPod touch for a good while, I’m using it as my point of reference…

iPhone 3G

  • The accuracy of the keyboard seems much improved.
  • GPS doesn’t always work well when you are inside a building but works great once you are outside or in a car. I especially like how the Google Maps update your location in real time.
  • The App store really is the killer app here. Downloading and installing apps is super simple and there are lots of quality apps to choose from.
  • Lots of games to choose from and Super Monkey Ball looks amazing on the iPhone. Absolutely comparable to a PSP in many cases.
  • I really wish there was a nice and easy way for iCal and Google Calendar to play together.
  • It’s too bad that there is no scheduled power-down/power-up feature. My old Blackberry Curve had this feature and it really helped to improve battery life without having to remember to turn the phone off every night.

That’s it for now… I’m sure I’ll share more thoughts soon.
