Beer battered bacon wrapped cheese injected hotdogs – OH MY!

I don’t know if I should be grossed out or totally impressed by the ever creative Bacon, Cheese, and Beer Dog.

I originally thought that Hot Dog Loaf was the epitome of the questionable meat delicacy experiments but these new BCBD’s take the cake both for creativity and the ever important gut turning quotient. Not only are the hot dogs injected with spray cheese, but they are wrapped and fried in back then beer battered and fried to golden perfection :) .


1 hot dog
1 slice of thick-cut bacon
1 can of spray cheese
1 can beer (It doesn’t matter what kind, but we recommend something dark. Corona probably isn’t a good idea)
1 cup flour
Oil for frying

This one is a little work-intensive, so be ready to buckle down. First take the center out of the hot dog with an apple corer, if you have access to one. If not, just cut out the middle with a knife. Fill the cavity with the spray cheese and use the hot dog you removed from the middle as a cap to keep the cheese in. Wrap the bacon around the hot dog and deep-fry for two to four minutes or until bacon is cooked. Dab them dry with a paper towel (so the batter will stick). Mix the beer with the flour until it reaches a thick, but lump-free consistency. Dip the dogs in the batter, coating the dog completely, and deep-fry on high heat for two to three minutes or until brown and deadly.

NOTE: Don’t fry them too long or all of the cheese will explode out into the oil. That’s very bad.

    Wow, that’s hardcore. I wonder if you could just inject the cheese with one of those meat syringes. Spray cheese is pretty pliable so it could probably be done easier than the apple corer. Still though, that makes my stomach hurt just looking at it!

    Oh…my….I think I had a heart attack just staring at the picture!

    That said, they look absolutely delicious! Just as good (if not better) as the deep fried sausages I ate en masse at many a chipy back when I was living in England. Thanks for sharing…if there was every a country that knows well how to make recipe’s garunteed to clog your arteries (or your money back) it’s ours!

    Though, Scotland, with it’s haggis and deep fried Mars Bars (I shit thee not) does come in a close second…

    Or, perhaps they beat us. I’m not entirely sure.

    I just used japaleno cheese (fully cooked) sausages with the bacon. Less work and Awesome!!
