OpenID Delegate WordPress Plugin

OpenIDAs OpenID takes over the internet one site at a time, it’s nice to see a WordPress plug-in that lets you delegate your OpenID credentials via your blog.

OpenID Delegate WordPress plugin will add OpenID delegation abilities to your blog, thus allowing you to sign in to various OpenID supported sites using your blog’s URL. In order for the plugin to work you must have an account on an OpenID server. If you don’t want to (or don’t know how to) run your own OpenID server you can register in a free OpenID server such as myOpenID or if you already have an account in one of the sites listed here (note: not all of them are OpenID providers, some are only consumers), you can use them to delegate the request directly to the servers there.

In its simplest form, this plug-in makes life a little easier since it means one less thing to remember when you go to log in to an OpenID enabled site. Simply use your Blog url + your OpenID password and you are off and running. As it stands now, OpenID is in its infancy but the as more organizations embrace it, the more likely it is to take a strong foothold in the coming months.

The plug-in is a v0.1 so it is pretty sparse in terms of documentation, but it’s pretty simple to setup and have running in a couple of minutes.
