Holy crap you might not believe it but Air Canada impressed me today. As you know the Keebler and I have been traveling on business this week and were on our way back to Toronto from Huntington Beach this morning. Unfortunately this also meant that we were trying to fly into Toronto during the biggest storm of the year so far.
We woke up at 4am so we could get to the airport for our 6am flight out of the O.C. to find out that our connecting flight from Denver was canceled. We figured this meant we would be doomed but made the decision to head out anyways. This is where Air Canada stepped up. Upon arrival at the O.C. airport we were pleasantly surprised when we were automatically bumped to the later flight without even the slightest mention of a problem. Air Canada was proactive and that surprised me.
The flight from the O.C. was pretty average. Once we landed in Denver we had to wait in line for Customer Service to allow us to check in and get our updated boarding passes. I’ll admit, we stood in line for almost 2 hours but luckily we were near the front and the staff were working hard at keeping everyone happy. A little patience paid off big time when we were able to get bumped up to the 3pm flight instead of the 8pm flight we had expected. Not only where we going to be home in time to finish off valentines day with our ladies, but it also meant we were on a brand new plane with comfy seats.
The stars and moon must have been in alignment today. A potentially terrible travel day ended up being a pretty uneventful trip. Thanks to a Philly Cheese Steak and some cheap WIFI at the Denver airport, the Keebler and I made it home unscathed with very low blood pressure to boot.
Thanks for making the effort Air Canada and United. I appreciate it.

I dunno… a two-hour wait doesn’t strike me as a good experience. But maybe that’s just me…
Still, proactive changes are good to see.
Despite the 2 hour wait they did try and make it as pleasant an experience as possible. Compared to the time I had to fly out of Toronto the day after a plane crashed on the runway this was a zillion times better.
