Mint 2.0 Looks Like A Nice Upgrade

Mint PanesThe Mint analytics suite has been around for a few years now and has just received a major upgrade to version 2.0. For $30 it’s a good deal on a pretty solid piece of web2.0 software.

Mint is an extensible web site analytics program. Its interface is an exercise in simplicity. Visits, referrers, popular pages and searches can all be taken in at a glance on Mint’s flexible dashboard.

I’ve been using Google Analytics for over a year now and although it seems to do what I want, it still leaves me wondering if it is actually working as expected. Google Analytics is definitely a little on the complicated side of things and has a bunch of functionality that I have no need for.

Mint is a cheap and easy second set of eyes. I especially like the fact that there is a growing community of Mint plugin developers who are extending the core functionality outwards. Adding a few of Mint’s “peppermill” plugins or desktop widgets and you can easily cover the Google Analytics bases. If you need robust Adsense integration then Mint won’t do the job out of the box, but if you need a nice, simple analytics tool that can be extended at will it should most certainly do the job.
